The Church of Mother of Mercy
Is a Roman Catholic parish serving the Asbury Park area of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Our parish community was formed by combining the Parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Holy Spirit, St Peter Claver, and Our Lady of Providence.
Mother of Mercy Parish is a multicultural community composed of Catholics from the Irish, Italian, Haitian and Hispanic Community of believers. We come together to praise and worship the Trinity of God. The Parish is under the direction and care of the Fathers and Brothers of the Society of the Divine Word: a Catholic Missionary Order of Priests and Brothers preaching the Gospel to the people of God.
At present we offer Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Holy Spirit Church in Asbury Park and also enjoy a successful parochial K-8 school. The physical properties, social and spiritual activities offer much to the community with the two churches, a school, a cemetery, parish center/gym, community center, Faith Formation and a variety of other ministries.
Third Order of the Most Holy Trinity
American Province
The Trinitarian 3rd Order is made up of lay men and women who have made a commitment to become part of the Order of the Most Holy Trinity by lay association. The First Order was founded by Saint John of Matha and Saint Felix of Valois over eight hundred years ago.
Along with the Order's purpose of ransoming Christian captives, each Trinitarian Community has historically served the people of its area. Thus, their ministries came to include : hospitality, care of the poor and sick, church/parish work, education, evangelization.
